MIDNIGHT SCREAMS
If you suddenly learned that a curse was hanging over your head and only a special ritual could lift it, and that ritual required a thousand dollars and a goat sacrifice, you would probably rush off in search of money and a knife. “This journey through the streets of Trashtown, packed with incredible encounters, absurd situations, and crooked games, is the seductive directorial debut of actress Annapurna Sriram, reimagining the tarot motif of The Fool’s Journey. It is both a tribute to B-movie and a love letter to the flagbearer of bad taste, John Waters: beneath its sugar-coated exterior lies an intimate, feminist, and rebellious core.” (Programme curator Karolis Žukas)
