A group of teenagers uses a stolen camera to film their everyday lives. The first job of the day is a robbery. After that, things only get worse. Roaming the streets they call home, choking with laughter one moment and seized by sudden rage the next, they document lives without rhythm, without purpose, without any vision of how things could be different. More than anything, they want to be understood; to finally feel that someone cares about them, the alleyway kids. And at the same time, nothing frightens them more than that.

“Emerging from Harmony Korine’s creative laboratory EDGLRD, Barrio Triste is a punk-rock experience. Director Stillz, who has already earned recognition in the music world through his work on Bad Bunny’s music videos, looks to the past for inspiration – to the streets of Medellín in the 1980s. He masterfully weaves street chaos with intimate testimonies from his protagonists, and the entire journey is accompanied by a noisy soundtrack by Arca. This film does not aim to please – it aims to carve itself into memory.” (Programme curator Karolis Žukas)
