Two lonely and broken souls meet on the renovated Pont Neuf bridge in Paris. Alex, addicted to alcohol, makes a living by performing dangerous stunts with fire. Michèle, a young artist, finds herself on the streets after a painful divorce. They are brought together not only by a bridge but also by their inner pain and their desire to escape reality. Michèle’s failing eyesight makes her dependent on Alex, who, tormented by jealousy and fear of abandonment, commits a crime.

The oldest bridge in Paris connects lost souls, reality, and dreams, while the film itself now serves as a bridge between the festival’s origins and its present, linking different eras of cinema history.
