Leos Carax, the renowned director of Annette, Holy Motors, and The Lovers on the Bridge, embarks on a playful yet provocative journey through his own filmography and cinema history in this film. A mysterious figure who has maintained an air of secrecy throughout his 40-year career, offers a unique cinematographic autobiography. With his distinctive voice and a montage of words and images inspired by Jean-Luc Godard, he revisits and recontextualises his key works, combining them with what appears to be simple home video footage and excerpts from classic silent films.

„With his raspy voice recorded during sleepless nights, a wild homemade edit, and archival footage, Leos Carax attempts a self-portrait in this film, first presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024. Dictators, Hitchcock, men in cinema, our submission to images—nothing is spared, everything is pierced by a sharp spear. It's chaotic yet organized, negative yet full of light, a tribute to his daughter and to all the voices that have kept him from feeling lonely throughout his life.“ (Programme curator Margot Amadei)
