Ornithologist Seán Ronayne is on a mission to record the sounds of every bird species in Ireland – around 200 in total. Often accompanied by his partner, Alba, he travels to the country’s most beautiful and remote locations to capture some of the rarest birds. On this trip, we get to know Seán better, as his special sensitivity to sound is both a strength and a challenge. His inspiring journey reveals the beauty and significance of sound and how listening can tell us more about the state of nature than we ever imagined.

"This film beautifully combines a story about a devoted ornithologist, a glimpse into the mysterious world of birds, and a warning that this world is shrinking and disappearing due to human activities. Not only in Ireland, but also throughout Europe, including Lithuania. Imagine, in twenty years, when you go out to the meadows, you may no longer hear the skylark, the lapwing, or the corncrake – birds that still seem common to us. Unfortunately, there are already countries in Europe where these species no longer breed. To prevent this from happening here, it is important to learn to recognize birds and understand the complex processes taking place in nature. This is what this film is about, and it also aligns with the birdwatching tours we organize in Lithuania and distant lands." (Ornitostogos team). More information: www.ornitostogos.lt
