In 1993, Nigeria is going through a historic turning point: after many years of military rule, democratic presidential elections are being held, offering hope. But for young brothers Remi and Aki, this political upheaval is merely the backdrop to their own life’s journey. Together with their father, they set off for chaotic Lagos to collect their long-overdue salary. As the day progresses, the brothers strive to draw closer to their father, a man who demonstrates his love for his family not with words but through grueling labor.

“A personal, sensitive look at a father, fit into one day. Although the film is limited in time, we can still take a lot from the small details. Who are our parents really? How do we grasp the fact that they are like gods to us, shaping our view of the world, and yet at the same time flawed, ordinary people? A film for those who struggle with the question: who am I?” (Programme curator Vladas Rožėnas)
