"Universal Language transcends the boundaries that separate us and connects different cultures, reminding us that even when words fail, the human spirit finds a way to forge connections. Inspired by a love for Iranian cinema, director Matthew Rankin has created a hopeful film with a unique visual style and distinctive humor that resonates deeply in our increasingly divided world. This comedy, which celebrates the beauty of human connection, is dedicated to all those who believe in the power of empathy." (Programme curator Karolis Žukas)
