“Toxic is an unflinching look at adolescence on the fringes. The film immerses us in the bleak reality of the projects, where boredom and the urge to escape fuel rebellion and self-destruction. It delves into the toxic allure of the modeling world and its grip on two teenage girls, unafraid to expose a harsh, unglamorous environment where hope and opportunity are scarce. Here, the neighborhood is more than just a backdrop, it’s a universe of its own, shaped by a striking soundtrack and Vytautas Katkus’ cinematography. This rich visual and sonic tapestry makes Toxic a film best experienced on the big screen.” (Programme curator Karolis Žukas)
