“One of the most important Chinese directors, Jia Zhangke, delivers a romantic and melancholic tale of love and loss against the backdrop of China’s rapid modernization in the film Caught by the Tides. The film revisits the characters and locations of Zhangke’s previous films, offering a unique, intimate look at the passage of time and the lasting impact of personal choices. Stunning visuals and Zhao Tao’s compelling performance make this film a must-see for both Jia Zhangke enthusiasts and those intrigued by the transformation of contemporary China.” (Programme curator Karolis Žukas)
