Short Competition : Truth or dare

Step into the world of contemporary Lithuanian cinema with 30 short films (2011-2024) that pulse with recent, bold voices. Directed by filmmakers shaping the contemporary Lithuanian cinematic identity, these festival and audience favorites have journeyed across the globe, bringing stories filled with creativity, passion, and originality.

Restlessly ambitious, emerging directors never fail to surprise with their early mastery and stylistic distinctiveness. These women and men are keen to explore the possibilities of visual language, to reflect boldly on complicated social issues, to let sensitivity and a tenderly romantic attitude in. Most importantly, they offer audiences a fresh perspective and portend a bright future for Europe’s auteur cinema. An international jury will evaluate the films in competition, with the winner receiving a 8,000 euro prize.

This programme is designed for the youngest viewers and those dipping their toes into the world of film festivals for the very first time. It features a unique selection of animated films about family adventures and friendship meant to stimulate curiosity about the world. The young cinemagoers will also have a chance to attend a special opening celebration.
