Vilnius International Film Festival (VIFF) proudly presents Ena Rahelić as the new Head of Industry for Meeting Point – Vilnius
Meeting Point – Vilnius (MPV), the annual audiovisual industry event that takes place during the Vilnius International Film Festival Kino Pavasaris. Rahelić’s appointment signifies a fresh start and exciting developments for the Lithuanian film community.
Over the past 15 years, MPV has played a pivotal role in nurturing talent and establishing vital connections with international players in the film industry. These connections have led to a surge in co-productions in Lithuania and the global recognition of young talents from the region at prestigious festivals like Cannes, Venice, and Berlin.
Ena Rahelić, with her wealth of experience, is poised to lead MPV into a new era. Having attended the event since 2012, she is intimately familiar with both MPV and the Lithuanian film industry. Her mission is to transform MPV into an indispensable resource for local film professionals, addressing their needs and fostering further growth.
Rahelić’s vision for MPV includes substantial changes beginning with the next event in March. MPV will expand its scope to encompass drama series and animation alongside feature films and documentaries. This strategic shift aligns MPV with international market trends, creating fresh opportunities for collaboration and (co-)production for film professionals.
MPV is evolving from a primarily conference-style event into a more interactive experience that caters to the diverse sectors within the film industry. This transformation promises to enhance engagement and responsiveness to industry needs.
The next MPV will be a transitional event, preserving successful initiatives like the Talent’s Nest program, which spotlights industry professionals from the Baltic region, Belarus, Ukraine, and the Caucasus countries. The “Coming Soon” session, which showcases debut filmmakers in late production or post-production stages, will continue to provide a platform for presenting their projects to the film industry.
With over 15 years of experience in the film industry, Ena Rahelić has held significant positions, including roles at the Sarajevo Film Festival/Obala Art Centar, where she managed the Festival’s CineLink Industry Days, Sales and Acquisitions, and Distribution in the Former Yugoslavia territory, as well as other. Projects such as Operation Kino, Dealing with the Past, etc. She also has been the executive producer of “Hand Gestures”, which premiered at Berlinale’S Forum in 2015.
Rahelić’s journey also led her to the Mediterranean film festival Split and Kino Mediteran, where she contributed as a Consultant for strategic business development and as the Festival’s Head of Industry.
As MPV marks its 15th anniversary from March 20 to 23, 2024, under the leadership of Ena Rahelić, it is set to enhance its role as a bridge and meeting point for European filmmakers. From the Baltics to Southeast Europe and from the Caucasus to Western Europe, exciting times await MPV and the European film industry.
