The domineering patriarch Takis is about to open his new butcher shop. At the same time, a long-simmering feud with his neighbor turns into tragedy. Takis' impulsive son Pavlos commits a shocking act. The only witness is a young Albanian, Christos, who Takis raised as his own son. As the family tries to hide the truth, the web of lies and deceit puts increasing pressure on Takis to make a difficult decision.

"Meat is a captivating debut from writer-director Dimitris Nakos, a film that masterfully explores the complex power dynamics within a family. We are drawn into the hidden world of a family burdened by unspoken truths and long-held secrets. Like crabs in a barrel, each member struggles for dominance, unaware that their relentless pursuit of power only serves to undermine and destroy them. Inspired by the timeless themes of ancient Greek tragedy, Meat'plunges into the dark heart of crime and punishment." (Program curator Karolis Žukas)
