When fate brings Belfast teacher JJ together with self-confessed “low life scum” Naoise and Liam Óg, a unique hip-hop project Kneecap is born. Rapping in their native Irish, they lead a movement to save their mother tongue. However, the trio must overcome not only the police, paramilitary groups, and politicians trying to silence their rebellious rhythm but also their own chaotic approach to life, which often proves to be their greatest enemy.

“Let’s dive into the chaos of the controversial Irish-language group Kneecap, filled with politically charged rhythms and outrageous antics. In this biographical film packed with sex, drugs, and hip-hop, Kneecap play themselves. The trio boldly challenges authority, fights against the status quo, and urges the world to defend local cultures. This is a film about rebellion, identity, and the power of music to change the world.” (Programme curator Karolis Žukas)
