In Four Daughters, Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania blurs the line between documentary and feature film. When Olfa’s two daughters disappear after joining ISIS, the filmmaker invites professional actresses to take their place. She reconstructs their story as well as Olfa and her younger daughters’ pain. Is it reality, fiction, or everything at once? This story takes a heart-wrenching look at memory, imagination, and a mother’s endless strength.
