Ahmet finds himself trapped within the walls of a religious dormitory, a place governed by a set of stringent rules. Brought there by his father, a recent convert to Islam, the teenager struggles to make sense of it all. The rigid daily routine and his pious peers are a far cry from the secular life the boy is used to. At school, he is an outsider, shielding his new reality from others under a cloak of silence. Only the bustling streets and his friend Hakan offer Ahmet solace: it is Hakan’s lighthearted laughter that lifts the heavy mood.
