The Nordic Film Collection

When life brings difficult situations, the main characters of this program’s films find support and hope in their faith in guiding stars. Social media, pseudoscience, and even modeling agencies promising happiness and success offer illusory comfort. These mirages become a salvation, or at least a symbol of it, for the heroes. With the program Mirages of Stars, we want to look at faith differently and ask what kind of beliefs, dreams, and myths help us survive. 

This collection of films explore the topic of sustainability from a wide range of angles: from ecology to migration and human rights. The stories told by these films, the cinematic language they use, and the technical tools they employ transports us from the past to the future, stimulating empathy and sensitivity to our surroundings, even if they are inhabited by those different from us.
