“As society increasingly chooses to distance itself from the topic of the war in Ukraine, Polish director Damian Kocur, whose debut Bread and Salt was adored by the Kino Pavasaris audience, reminds us that Europe is living at the foot of a volcano that could erupt at any moment. Under the volcano is a highly sensitive portrait of the emotional state of a young Ukrainian family. It is a different film about war, where, thanks to the compelling performances of four Ukrainian actors, you will feel the looming danger not only on the screen but also in the pauses between dialogues.” (Programme curator Benita Paplauskaitė)
