Lydia Tár (Cate Blanchett) is the icon of the music world. Among countless other achievements, she is the main conductor of The Berlin Philharmonic. Tár holds the power which too long belonged exclusively to men. She is days away from recording Mahler symphony which will elevate her career even more, oblivious to the signs that her past is catching up.
“Cate Blanchett has incredible power. She commands attention and convinces of everything she says or does on the screen. Every word she utters, every gesture she makes, has meaning and history behind it – you may not know it, but you sense it. Her Lydia Tár is alive. No wonder many after the screening will search if she – this antihero of today's issues – really exists. Todd Field, working closely with Blanchett, created both subtle and grand film about power, and the person blinded by it.” (Ignė Smilingytė)
