Sophie reflects on the last holiday with her father (Paul Mescal), spent in a fading Turkish resort twenty years earlier. Calum (Paul Mescal) was only 30, Sophie was 11, and together they looked more like brother and sister. Rare, therefore precious, time together was filled with warmth, friendship, curiosity, minor troubles, and sunny melancholy. This holiday is engraved in Sophies memory. From miniDV records and recollections, real or imagined, she tries to reconcile the farther she knew with the man she didn’t.
“At times tearful, at times funny – probably the most discussed last year’s debut hasn’t left anyone indifferent. From the very first frame, it is clear that this is a delicate and vibrant cinema, and behind it – already mature director with a clear thematic and aesthetic vision. It's a letter to the past, where she tells her father, whom she could never truly meet: ‘Hey, now I feel you.’ Strong atmosphere leaves a feeling of a time spent not in the dark of the cinema, but in the lazy sunshine by the blue pool with Sophie and Calum.” (Aistė Račaitytė)
