In the 70s, as the American youth embraces hippie culture, marijuana bonanza hits Colombia, quickly turning farmers into seasoned businessmen. In the Guajira desert, an indigenous family takes a leading role in the new venture, and discovers the perks of wealth and power. But when greed and passion collide, family war breaks out putting their lives and ancestral traditions at stake. "Birds of Passage" is the story of an entire country's descent into hell, told through the tradition of Greek tragedy.
