In 1981 South Africa, defending the Apartheid, engages in a military conflict with Angola. Like many other men of his country, Nicholas must complete compulsory military service. He has long known that there is something shameful and unacceptable in him. He is, in Afrikaans, a "moffie". To hide this fact, Nicholas must face the brutality of the army and the toxic culture of racist machismo. When he becomes fascinated with another recruit, his intentions to remain invisible are seriously shaken.

"The story is driven by the convincing portrayal of the main actor, the warm glance of the cinematographer, and the subtle soundtrack. It's like Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket", but much more serious, filled with African heat and the tension of suppressed feelings." (Gediminas Kukta)
