Vilnius International Film Festival (VIFF) introduces its freshly assembled team of programmers
VIFF's Executive Director, Konradas Kazlauskas, underscores the festival's unwavering commitment to content quality, reflecting in the careful selection of these programmers. Kazlauskas expresses his delight in having a team of experienced professionals onboard, poised to discover and curate exceptional films that align with future trends while providing innovative cinematic experiences. Special attention will also be dedicated to supporting Lithuanian filmmakers.
Marija Fridinovaitė, who previously served as a programmer at VIFF from 2020 to 2022, returns as the Head of Programme. Leveraging her festival programming experience, she confidently embraces her new role, declaring, "We will continue to curate a program that not only ignites the audience's passion for cinema but also responds to their interests and needs. Our main goal is to bring captivating, relevant, and stimulating films to the big screen."
Fridinovaitė holds a Bachelor's degree in Film Management from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and a Master's degree in Film Theory from the University of Paris 8. Her extensive involvement in film production and film markets further expands her expertise.
Dovilė Grigaliūnaitė, who contributed to the festival in various capacities over the years, now assumes the role of Programmer and Procurement Manager: "I believe my diverse background will help us create a program that captivates the audience and transforms their cinematic experience."
Dovilė's background includes positions such as Head of Programme at the human rights documentary film festival "Inconvenient Films" and Communications Manager at the Vilnius International Short Film Festival. Her educational journey encompasses a Bachelor's degree in Cultural History and Anthropology and a Master's degree in Politics and Media from the Institute of International Relations and Politics.
Karolis Žukas, the newest addition to the programming team, is eager to infuse fresh energy into the festival's program. His wide-ranging interests in diverse content, spanning high artistic value and entertainment, will help strike a balance in the festival's lineup, ensuring diversity and relevance.
Karolis has previously held roles at various institutions and is the founder of the platform "Kitas Kinas," dedicated to horror, fantasy, and cult cinema.
Benita Paplauskaitė, who possesses over ten years of experience in the film, television, and advertising industries, takes on the role of Programme Coordinator. Having served as the Head of the festival’s Guest Department since 2021, Benita is dedicated to bringing bold, thought-provoking cinema to VIFF, promising to captivate audiences.
With her academic background, which includes a Bachelor of Arts in Film from Roehampton University in London, Benita is well-prepared to support the festival's program and film education projects.
