Alcarràs
Alcarràs

As far as they can remember, the Solé family have spent every summer picking the peaches from their orchard in Alcarràs, a small village in Spain. But this year’s crop could be their last, as they face eviction. The new plans for the land include cutting down the peach trees and installing solar panels, which causes a rift within the large tight-knit family. For the first time, they face an uncertain future and risk losing more than their home.

“A ripe summer is seeping out of the screen, flooding the room with the peachy smell and warming audience’s cheeks. Characters played by unprofessional actors feel so familiar – together with them we experience tectonic shifts, while they are picking the last harvest with tears in the corners of their eyes. Catalonian Carla Simon undoubtedly is one of the most talented European directors. Like in her debut feature, she draws inspiration from her childhood memories, therefore the authenticity, children's characters and their pure eyes stay with us for long after. It’s incredibly delicate film about home, family traditions, values and struggle for all that in a fast-changing world.” (Aistė Račaitytė)

World Premiere: Berlin film Festival, Official Competition, 2022
