Ever since being startled by a loud ‘bang’ at daybreak, Jessica (Tilda Swinton) is unable to sleep. In Bogotá to visit her sister, she befriends Agnes, an archaeologist studying human remains discovered within a tunnel under construction. Jessica travels to see Agnes at the excavation site. In a small town nearby, she encounters a fish scaler, Hernan. They share memories by the river. As the day comes to a close, Jessica is awakened to a sense of clarity.

Director's biography
Apichatpong Weerasethakul (b. 1970 in Bangkok, currently lives and works in Chiang Mai, Thailand) has been making films videos and art instalations since the early 1990s. Working independently of the Thai commercial film industry, he is active in producing and promoting experimental and independent filmmaking through his company „Kick the Machine“, which he founded in 1999. In 2004 he received Cannes Film Festival Grand Jury Prize for Tropical Malady (“Kino Pavasaris”), and Palme d'Or for Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives in 2010. His oeuvre was presented in Lithuania in 2018 with the solo exhibition in CAC and the retrospective in “Skalvija”.
