Often cited as the best South Korean film, it tells a story of an unfaithful composer, a betrayed wife and their housemaid. When she seduces her master and gets pregnant, the composer and his wife demand the abortion. Frustrated by such request, the maid takes revenge. What started as a melodrama turns into a psychological thriller with claustrophobic atmosphere, tense sequences and obsessive characters. It has inspired many generations of Korean filmmakers. Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite" is recent example.
