Barking dogs don't bite, but really annoy Yoon Ju, a young university lecturer who lives in a big apartment building with his pregnant wife. One day, at the neighbour's door, the man notices a puppy and decides that this four-legged creature is causing all the terrible noise. Yoon Ju grabs the poor thing and locks it in the basement. However, he has no idea that somewhere close-by lives Hyun-Nam who is bored stiff. She notices a flyer about a missing pet and a string of strange events unravel.

"Bong Joon-ho's debut breaks the rules, boldly provokes and makes one laugh. From the very first film, the director demonstrates mastery and a penetrating look at the dark corners of the South Korean society." (Gediminas Kukta)
