Bird Talk

Added to my films

Right before he died, Andrzej Żuławski, one of the most original Polish directors and scriptwriters, passed the script of "Bird Talk" to his son Xavery Żuławski. The script reflects on the downfall of Polish intellectual elite. The main character, young artist Marian gives all his strength to a new art piece. Together with a few friends he lives in an abandoned flat in Warsaw. Armed only with irony, flowers and quotes from the classics they stand against a system which pushed them to the margins.

„Watching this film is like playing a lively and energetic intellectual game, where rules are loose and indefinite – just like the film itself. Sharpness of Andrzej Żuławski's mind, his unique cinematic language and style is revived in the hands of his son Xavery Żuławski, sparking a dialogue between a father and a son, between different generations."
