The year is 1989 and Ethiopia is ripped apart by a civil war. 16-year-old Minas' Jewish family is planning to flee Ethiopia for Israel. The girl spends precious quiet moments under a fig tree with her boyfriend Eli, who lives in the woods hiding, trying to evade military draft. Mina cannot bear leaving Eli behind. Aäläm-Wärqe Davidian, who left war-torn Ethiopia at the age of 11, shot her debut feature on location in her native country. Davidian won the prestigious Eurimages' Audentia Award at the Toronto Film Festival.
