Fang Xiuying suffers from advanced Alzheimer’s disease or the last eight years of her life. She no longer recognizes the people around her, she cannot speak and can barely move. Mrs. Fang is dying. Her relatives, friends and the filmmaker Wang Bing have gathered by her bed to, over the course of ten days in 2016, show us dying as something that is both ordinary and that connects us all. Mrs. Fang was a farmer born in Huzhou, Fujian in 1948. By 2015, her symptoms were already very advanced and her treatment in a convalescent home was ineffective, so it was discontinued and she returned home.
