Winner of Best Film and Best Actress at the San Sebastian Film Festival a provincial restuaranteur Li (Fan Bingbing) is a spurned women seeking a divorce from her husband. Explaining to the local magistrate that she is already divorced but that divorce was a sham to acquire a second, state-provided apartment, Li is quickly dismissed as a time-waster. As members of China's ruling party continue to underestimate the determined woman, heads begin to roll and her increasingly epic plight turns from punchline to political pitfall.
