War. A city under siege. A truce has recently been signed and the squad known as “The Blacks”, who used to do the dirtiest jobs, needs to be disbanded. Ivo is the squad’s commander. He has lost three of soldiers and is preparing to retrieve their bodies from the forest. Despite the ceasefire he has plans to blow up a dam in revenge. The surviving members of the squad, tortured by their personal doubts and guilt, move into action. But out on the battlefield they find the enemy they are looking for in the place they least expect – inside themselves. "The Blacks" is based on a true story about atrocities committed during the war in Croatia from 1991-1995. With its naturalistic documentary-style imagery, the film is powerfully reminiscent of some of the best films dealing with the Vietnam War.
