Continental, a Film Without Guns

Stephane LaFleur’s feature debut is a carefully observed character study following the exploits of four main characters. Their lives will subtly intertwine after the disappearance of a man who has simply walked off into the woods. We soon join in the lonely lives of this cast of lovable losers, including the man’s wife, who begins receiving strange phone calls that seem to be emanating from the forest. Eschewing overheated Crash-style melodrama, this ensemble film quietly builds a series of very real and absurd moments to subtly show what makes us all human.
