His name is Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, but everybody calls him Carlos. For two decades, he was the most wanted man on earth. Terrorist, assassin and mercenary in the eyes of some; revolutionary, dreamer and victim in the eyes of others, the insurgent Venezuelan hailed from a wealthy family. He spoke seven languages, was fascinated with firearms, enamored with women, addicted to danger and was a fierce defender of the Palestinian cause. He crossed continents clandestinely, executing some remarkably perilous commando operations, including the infamous audacious 1975 attack on OPEC headquarters in Vienna and kidnapping of oil ministers that made him a world-famous figure - and a fugitive with a bounty on his head – one of the highest at the time – from several states and intelligence agencies.
