It is the 1940s and Anna Lappalainen is incarcerated in a mental asylum, perhaps mainly because she deviates from the norm and her mother can't cope with her at home. At the asylum, she refuses to go by her real name and assumes a persona known as Princess. She soon becomes a positive focal point at the asylum. But the head doctor refuses to play along and wants to treat Princess with electroshock therapy and lobotomy. Based on a true story, this is a film about a woman who is judged to be sick by society, yet heals and brings joy to others around her by force of her presence and personality.
